The Federated States of Micronesia is part of the Micronesia region in the continent of Oceania. The Federated States of Micronesia's name is believed to have derived from the Greek words meaning small and islands. It is in the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, near the equator and is 702 square kilometres in size. The primary languages spoken are English, Chuukese, Kosraean, Pohnpeian and Yapese; the capital city is Palikir, and the main currency used is the U.S. Dollar.
