Equatorial Guinea is part of the Central Africa region in the continent of Africa. The name Equatorial Guinea is believed to have derived from the term Guine which Portuguese sailors would use to describe any area near west Africa and equatorial given its proximity to the equator. It is in the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, near the equator and is 28.1 thousand square kilometres in size. The primary languages spoken are Spanish and French; the capital city is Malabo and the main currency used is the CFA Franc Beac.
