The Democratic Republic of the Congo is part of the Central Africa region in the continent of Africa. The name of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is believed to have derived from the native people known as the Bakongo, which the Congo River was named. It is in the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, near the equator and is 2.3 million square kilometres in size. The primary language spoken is French, the capital city is Kinshasa, and the main currency used is the Franc Congolais.
